Ultimate Database Superheroes
A bold, comic-inspired marketing campaign designed to showcase EBSCO’s premier academic databases to libraries and students

Challenge
The “Ultimate Superheroes” campaign set out to promote EBSCO’s four premier academic databases to academic libraries and the students they support. A key challenge was encouraging libraries to upgrade from lower-tier products to the more robust Ultimate versions, clearly demonstrating the added value of each offering. It also required breaking through traditional, often dry academic marketing by introducing a more imaginative and attention-grabbing concept without losing credibility.
Solution
To address this, I developed a bold, comic-inspired campaign that positioned each database as a unique superhero, each with distinct strengths tailored to different research needs. I created a dedicated infographic and digital comic book for each product, using dynamic visuals and storytelling to translate complex features into an accessible, engaging format. The superhero theme was carried consistently across all deliverables, creating a cohesive narrative and strong visual identity that made the campaign both memorable and easy to navigate.
